28-year-old worker is in serious condition after being trapped between a wall and a truck in Nuevo París

A 28-year-old worker is in critical condition following a severe workplace accident in the Nuevo París neighborhood of Uruguay. The incident occurred Friday morning on Lascano street, near Timote, as reported by Subrayado (Canal 10) and confirmed by the Ministry of Labor (MTSS).

The young man was reportedly at the entrance of a property, behind a truck, giving directions to two colleagues. They were attempting to dislodge an elevator that had become stuck in a corridor, using a rope to tie it to the truck. According to the truck driver's account, relayed by Telemundo (Canal 12), the vehicle moved backward after the handbrake was released, pinning the worker against a concrete beam.

Emergency services responded swiftly, and the worker was transported to the Hospital del Banco de Seguros del Estado (BSE) with multiple fractures. Forensic police and local law enforcement were present at the scene. The Fiscalía de Flagrancia will investigate the responsibilities related to the incident. The General Inspectorate of Labor also announced its own investigation into the accident that occurred during working hours. Additionally, the Ministry of Labor confirmed it has filed a complaint with the Fiscalía regarding a separate incident where a rural worker was struck by lightning in Cerro Largo on August 6th.
