47-Kilometre Adjud-Bacău Section of Moldova Motorway Opens

Drivers can now travel on a new 47.1-kilometre stretch of Romania’s A7 Moldova Motorway between Adjud and Bacău. The segment opened at 4 p.m., according to the National Road Infrastructure Administration, known as CNAIR.

The opening brings the motorway network available on the A7 to 241.62 kilometres out of the planned 319 kilometres between Ploiești and Pașcani. The new section connects traffic from Bucharest to the interchange with the Bacău bypass, which provides access to DN2F toward Vaslui.

Traffic has opened on the A7 Moldova Motorway from Adjud to Bacău, covering 47.10 kilometres.

CNAIR said traffic would later extend by about four kilometres to the Bacău Nord interchange once connection works are complete. Cristian Pistol said authorities chose a phased opening so each section would enter service only after all connections were finished and safety conditions checked.

Three sections covering 77.38 kilometres between Bacău and Pașcani remain under construction. They receive funding through Romania’s National Recovery and Resilience Plan. The Transport Ministry’s state secretary, Irinel Scrioșteanu, recently said he had driven from Bucharest to Bacău on high-speed roads in two hours and 11 minutes after the latest openings.
