5 Lithuanian Crews to Compete for Medals at European Rowing Championships

A strong contingent of five Lithuanian rowing crews will compete for medals at the European Rowing Championships after successfully navigating the preliminary races. The competition, held under intense heat exceeding 30 degrees Celsius, saw four Lithuanian crews qualify directly for the A finals, with one advancing to the semifinals and another to the C final.

Viktorija Senkutė, a silver medalist at this year's World Cup, demonstrated her prowess by finishing second in her heat in the women's single sculls (W1x) with a time of 7:26.45 minutes, earning her a direct path to the semifinals.

However, fellow single sculler Dovydas Nemeravičius faced a tougher challenge. The most decorated member of the Lithuanian team finished sixth in his heat in the men's single sculls (M1x) with a time of 6:58.86 minutes, placing him in the C final.

In the women's double sculls (W2x), Dovilė Rimkutė and Martyna Kazlauskaitė, a two-time world champion in beach sprints, secured second place in their heat with a time of 6:49.43 minutes, advancing directly to the A final. This marks Rimkutė's return to international competition following the 2024 Paris Olympic Games.

Lithuania's sweep in the pair events also saw success. Ugnė Juzėnaitė and Kamilė Kralikaitė (W2-) finished third in their heat (7:09.07 min.) to qualify for the A final. Similarly, Domantas Stankūnas and Dovydas Stankūnas (M2-) and Mantas Juškevičius, Povilas Stankūnas, Arnedas Kelmelis, and Saulius Aušbikavičius (M4-) also secured second-place finishes in their respective heats, advancing directly to the A finals. All Lithuanian crews are scheduled to compete on Saturday.
