624 US soldiers injured in Iran conflict since February, Pentagon reports

At least 624 U.S. military personnel have sustained injuries since President Donald Trump ordered strikes against Iran in February, according to the latest update from the Pentagon dated July 25. Of this total, 417 personnel were reportedly injured during Operation Epic Wrath, while an additional 207 were categorized under Overseas Operations.

The U.S. and Iran had agreed to a ceasefire in April and signed a memorandum of understanding in June. However, the Pentagon's update indicates that attacks by both sides have persisted throughout this period. In a recent revision of casualty figures, the Pentagon reclassified four deceased service members from the Operation Epic Wrath records to the Overseas Operations death toll.

Within the Pentagon's Defense Casualty Analysis System, Operation Epic Wrath, which refers to the initial strikes, still listed 18 deaths and 482 injuries as of Tuesday. However, the names of the four service members were later removed from this record and added to Overseas Operations. By Thursday, the death toll for Operation Epic Wrath was reduced to 14. The system now records casualties for Overseas Operations beginning July 7, 2026.

These changes in casualty statistics, including the number of injured and deceased personnel, have drawn criticism for allegedly undermining transparency in the conflict. The lack of official explanation or announcement regarding these revisions has raised concerns among observers about the clarity of reporting on U.S. involvement in the conflict with Iran.
