7-year-old child pinned by fallen ladder truck en route to school in Cheonan

A 7-year-old child suffered critical injuries after being crushed by a falling ladder truck in an apartment complex in Cheonan, South Korea. The incident occurred on Wednesday morning as the child was en route to school.

The ladder truck was reportedly being used to load moving furniture when it suddenly collapsed sideways. According to initial reports from the Cheonan Dongnam Police and the Chungnam Fire Department, the truck fell while its ladder was extended towards an apartment building.

Police suspect that the accident happened because the ladder truck's support legs were not adequately installed or secured. "The support legs could not bear the load, and the ladder truck fell over," stated Song Seong-jun, head of the criminal division at the Cheonan Dongnam Police Station. "It seems the support legs were not properly installed in the direction it fell."

The child lost consciousness following the accident and was transported to a nearby university hospital for treatment by emergency responders. Police plan to investigate relevant industry personnel on charges of occupational negligence resulting in injury.
