995 Firearms Found at South Jakarta Private School Claimed Legal for Extracurriculars

A cache of 995 firearms, including airsoft guns and spare parts, has been discovered in a room at a private school in South Jakarta. The weapons are claimed to be legal and licensed by PT Lokta Karya Persatuan Menembak Indonesia (Perbakin), intended for planned shooting and archery extracurricular activities.

Alhadid Endar Putra, the director of PT Lokta Karya, stated that the firearms are legal and hold permits from the Indonesian National Police. He mentioned that many of the weapons are spare parts and no longer functional. The storage facility, however, has reportedly been occupied by unauthorized individuals since April, preventing access.

The discovery has raised questions, especially as the school's foundation is reportedly in dispute. Alhadid, acting as a representative for the former chair of the school's foundation, indicated that the foundation's current representatives requested the items be removed in late July. However, when his staff arrived, the room was already opened in the presence of police and military personnel.
