A dark day for the Slovenian crew

Slovenian kayakers experienced a disappointing day at the World Championships in Oklahoma City, failing to qualify for any individual finals despite earlier success in the team event. This outcome contrasted sharply with the gold medal secured by the Slovenian team in the team competition.

In the men's individual races, Lan Tominc finished in a respectable 15th place. He narrowly missed the final, with organizers noting that a penalty-free run could have secured his spot. Veteran Peter Kauzer faced significant challenges on the course, incurring two penalty seconds early on and later a substantial 50-second penalty. He ultimately finished 28th.

For the women, Eva Alina Hočevar also struggled, finishing 26th in her semi-final. A 50-second penalty on gate four hampered her performance, despite maintaining good speed on the course. This result was two places better than her qualifying run but still far from her desired outcome.

Both Žiga Lin Hočevar and Eva Alina Hočevar have found the World Championships difficult, possibly due to arriving later than other major teams. Their performances have not matched their earlier successes in the World Cup season. Eva Alina Hočevar has one more opportunity in the canoe discipline.
