For ten years, the Abierto de Los Cabos has served as a crucial gateway for Mexican tennis players, offering them a consistent opportunity to compete in high-level ATP tournaments. This year marks the tournament's decade anniversary, a milestone that tournament director José Antonio Fernández sees as a testament to its commitment to fostering national talent.

"We celebrate ten years of tennis in which we can help Mexicans. Give them that window and that opportunity in which they can be with us and play high-quality tournaments. That is the most important thing," Fernández stated in an interview. He highlighted that nine Mexican singles players have competed in the main draw over the tournament's history, with a record four participants last year: Alejandro Hernández, Rodrigo Pacheco, Alan Magadán, and Luis Carlos Álvarez.

The tournament's focus on national talent began in 2016 with Tigre Hank and Lucas Gómez, the first Mexicans to play in the singles main draw. Fernández believes this investment has yielded significant results, pointing to the career-best ATP ranking of 196 achieved by Rodrigo Pacheco in September 2025. The truth is that if it were not for these two tournaments, Acapulco and Los Cabos, Mexican players would not have the opportunity to play circuit tournaments," Fernández explained.
