Able Mills in Two Finals at U20 Championships

Jamaica's Able Mills is set to showcase her athletic prowess on the second day of the World Athletics Under-20 Championships at Hayward Field in Eugene, Oregon. On Thursday, August 7, 2026, Mills will compete in back-to-back finals, discus and shot put, with less than two hours separating the events.

Mills secured her spot in the discus final on Wednesday's opening day, throwing 53.37 meters for the seventh-best qualification mark. She will begin her pursuit of a medal in this event at 6:00 PM local time (8:00 PM Jamaica time).

Following her discus competition, Mills will transition to the shot put final, which commences at 9:40 PM local time. She qualified for this event earlier on Thursday morning with a throw of 15.84 meters, ranking ninth overall among the competitors.

Both of Mills' qualifying distances were just shy of her personal bests. She achieved a personal best of 53.85 meters in the discus to win the gold medal at the Carifta Games in Grenada, and her shot put personal best of 15.88 meters was set in Kingston on July 27.
