Accord Party adopts Tinubu for 2027 presidency, cites infrastructure projects

Osun State Governor Ademola Adeleke and the national leadership of the Accord Party have announced their adoption of President Bola Tinubu as the party's presidential candidate for the 2027 election. The decision was made during a meeting in Osogbo, the state capital.

Pelumi Olajengbesi, spokesperson for Adeleke's re-election campaign, stated that the party leadership emphasized the necessity for the Tinubu administration to complete its initiated infrastructure projects. Key projects mentioned include the Lagos-Calabar Coastal Road and the Sokoto-Badagry highway. Discussions also covered the upcoming August governorship election in Osun State, with the party leadership issuing warnings against violence, intimidation, electoral manipulation, and the misuse of security forces against Accord Party members.

In a separate development, non-indigenous residents from southern states, Benue, and Plateau living in Osun State have pledged their support for Governor Adeleke's re-election bid. This endorsement came during a town hall meeting in Ede, convened by the governor's Senior Special Assistant on Non-Indigenes from these regions.

Meanwhile, the Osun State police command has declared five individuals wanted in connection with escalating political violence that has led to several deaths, including a teenager in Ilobu. The police spokesperson identified the suspects and urged residents to provide information on their whereabouts. The command is actively pursuing these individuals following reports of killings and property destruction.
