Accountant for Alito Moreno's brother arrested over alleged millionaire embezzlement in Campeche

Luis Antonio Espinosa Campos, identified as the accountant and company representative for Emigdio Gabriel Moreno Cárdenas, the brother of PRI national leader Alejandro "Alito" Moreno Cárdenas, has been arrested in Mexico City.

The arrest occurred on Tuesday at 2:40 PM in the Mixcoac neighborhood of the Benito Juárez mayoralty. Espinosa is facing accusations of alleged millionaire embezzlement in the state of Campeche. The capture was carried out by elements of the Secretariat of Security and Citizen Protection (SSPC).

According to the organization Mexicanos Contra la Corrupción y la Impunidad (MCCI), Espinosa Campos is under investigation for alleged diversions of funds from the Campeche government during the tenure of Alito Moreno. The National Registry of Detentions described Espinosa as a man of dark complexion, graying hair, thick eyebrows, a wide nose, wearing a green suit and glasses at the time of his arrest.

The legal proceedings and accusations against Espinosa Campos are linked to financial irregularities during Alito Moreno's time as governor of Campeche, a period that has drawn scrutiny from anti-corruption watchdogs.
