Actor Nas-T suggests reboot for 'KAMI The Movie' with new talent

Malaysian actor Nas-T, known for his role in the 2008 film "KAMI The Movie," feels the cult classic deserves a modern reboot. He believes the film's themes of youth reality and independent spirit remain relevant today, and the Malaysian film industry has ample talent to bring it back to life.

I think it would be interesting if KAMI was remade, just with a different approach and direction and using a new cast.

Nas-T, whose real name is Nas Muammar Zar Nasruddin, specifically pointed to Amir Ahnaf, a young actor from the series "Projek: High Council," as a suitable replacement for his character, Abu. "He has the right qualities to replace me in the role of Abu," Nas-T stated, adding humorously that the original cast could take on supporting roles like music teachers, rather than playing parents to the new generation.

If you ask who is suitable to play my character, Abu, I see actors from Projek: High Council who can do it, including Amir Ahnaf.

The actor reminisced about his experience making "KAMI," calling it one of his most meaningful artistic memories. He expressed gratitude for being part of a project that significantly impacted a generation and hopes the indie genre and legacy of "KAMI" continue. Nas-T also highlighted the enduring friendships among the original cast members, including Syahrul Ezani, Liyana Jasmay, Ani Zayanah Ibrahim, and Juliana Evans, noting they remain in contact and supportive of each other online.
