Perlis Culture Ride emerges as new attraction to boost state tourism

The Perlis Culture Ride, a newly introduced cycling event, offered participants a valuable experience exploring the state's tourism sites and picturesque villages. The 37.5-kilometer ride attracted 160 participants and was organized by the Ministry of Tourism, Arts and Culture (MOTAC) Perlis, in collaboration with various state and national agencies.

This initiative served as a platform to promote the state's rich cultural heritage, arts, traditions, and craft products. It also aimed to foster stronger cooperation among agencies involved in promoting Perlis as a prime destination for culture and heritage tourism. The event saw the presence of the Menteri Besar of Perlis, Abu Bakar Hamzah, and the Secretary-General of the Ministry of Tourism, Arts and Culture, Datuk Shaharuddin Abu Sohot.

The Perlis Tourism and Recreation Association (Trooper) played a key role as the technical coordinator and in promoting participation. The Perlis Culture Ride is designed to highlight the unique cycling experience in Perlis, portraying it as a peaceful and tranquil state ideal for safe cycling activities. It goes beyond a simple ride, promoting Perlis as a sports tourism destination by featuring selected tourist spots around Kuala Perlis, Sungai Baru, Sungai Padang, and Sanglang.

Ku Hasrin Ku Abdul Rahman, President of Trooper and technical director, pledged continued support to the state government in enhancing cycling tourism. He aims to attract more cycling enthusiasts to Perlis, thereby boosting the local economy. The event positions Perlis as a serene destination, leveraging its natural beauty and cultural richness to draw visitors.
