ADC convention: Wike didn’t threaten to revoke our licence — Facility owner

The management of De Rainbow Event Centre has firmly refuted claims that the Minister of the Federal Capital Territory, Nyesom Wike, threatened to revoke their operational license. This rebuttal comes in response to controversy surrounding the venue's decision to host the African Democratic Congress (ADC) national convention.

We wish to categorically state that De Rainbow Event Marquee did not receive any threat of license revocation from the Honourable Minister of the FCT or from any other person or government institution.

According to Mrs. Martina Yusuf, the Director of the event center, the allegations of threats are entirely false and were circulated without verification. She emphasized that the center has not received any such threats from the FCT Minister or any government institution. The clarification was deemed necessary due to concerns raised by clients who have existing bookings at the venue.

These reports were not authorised by us and, to the best of our knowledge, are untrue. They appear to have been circulated without verification.

This statement directly contradicts earlier claims made by the ADC leadership, which alleged that the event center was under pressure to cancel the booking due to threats of license revocation. The ADC spokesperson had stated that the venue informed the party of these threats from FCT officials. The facility's management, however, insists that they remain open for business and all confirmed bookings are valid, prioritizing a secure environment for their clients. This dispute adds a new layer to the ongoing political maneuvering surrounding the ADC convention.
