Adegoke relishes new season’s best

Enoch Adegoke has signaled a strong comeback on the Nigerian athletics scene, delighting fans and observers with his performance at the MTN CHAMPS Season 4 in Ibadan.

The Tokyo 2020 Olympics finalist clinched the men's 100m title, clocking 10.15 seconds. This victory is particularly meaningful as it represents one of his fastest times in nearly five years, a significant milestone following a challenging period of injury.

Very special. I have been looking for a faster time than 10.30s. After I got injured in 2021, one of my most consistent times every season has been 10.30s. So, I really wanted to be consistently around 10.00s to 10.10s so I can get back to my best.

Adegoke's journey back to form has been closely watched. After sustaining an injury in the Olympic final, regaining his previous speed proved difficult. However, his recent performance suggests he is on the right track to reclaiming his status as one of Nigeria's premier sprinters.

Speaking after the race, Adegoke shared his satisfaction, noting his consistent aim to break the 10.30s barrier. He emphasized the importance of executing the race plan correctly, a principle instilled by his coach, and expressed gratitude for the competitive push from his rival, Chidera Ezeakor, which he believes contributed to the special performance.
