Adeleke camp threatens Osun senator with ₦10bn suit over defamation allegation

Pelumi Olajengbesi, the campaign spokesman for Osun State Governor Ademola Adeleke, has threatened Senator Francis Fadahunsi with a ₦10 billion lawsuit for defamation and injurious falsehood. The legal threat stems from statements Fadahunsi made during live television interviews on Viable TV and Channels Television.

In a letter dated August 12, 2026, Olajengbesi's lawyer stated that Fadahunsi falsely claimed Olajengbesi was not from Ijebu-Jesha but from Ogun State. Furthermore, the senator allegedly accused Olajengbesi of using thugs and members of the Eiye and Aye cult groups to terrorize his territory. These accusations were made during interviews on July 2 and August 11, 2026.

He demanded a public apology and retraction of the statements within 24 hours, warning of legal action if the senator failed to comply.
