Afenyo-Markin files defamation suit against Sammy Gyamfi and others over extortion allegation

Alexander Afenyo-Markin, the Minority Leader in Ghana's Parliament, has initiated legal action against Sammy Gyamfi, the Chief Executive of the Ghana Gold Board, and others, including Multimedia Group Limited. The defamation suit follows allegations of extortion made against Afenyo-Markin.

Speaking during a parliamentary recall session, Afenyo-Markin declared his intention to cooperate fully with any investigation by the Ghana Police Service and the Office of the Special Prosecutor. He expressed confidence that the legal process would ultimately clear his name.

The lawsuit was filed at the Accra High Court against the Gold Board CEO and Sammy Gyamfi, as well as at the Achimota Circuit Court against Eric Agyei and Peace FM. Afenyo-Markin conveyed his trust in the judicial system to reach an appropriate determination on the matters.
