After the heat, Saxony in Germany cools down again

Following a period of intense heat, Saxony, Germany, is set for a considerable shift in weather as temperatures are expected to drop significantly. After reaching highs of up to 38 degrees Celsius on Saturday, the forecast indicates a maximum of 24 to 26 degrees Celsius on Sunday, with cooler temperatures in the mountainous regions. This cooling trend will be accompanied by rain and thunderstorms. The German Weather Service (DWD) predicts that the first showers and thunderstorms could arrive from the northwest in the latter half of Saturday night into Sunday. While Sunday morning may see occasional light rain, heavier downpours and thunderstorms are anticipated by midday and into the afternoon, particularly in the mountainous areas. These storms could bring heavy rain, hail, and strong gusts of wind. The unsettled weather pattern is expected to persist into Monday night. The start of the week will be markedly cooler, with meteorologists forecasting temperatures between 22 and 24 degrees Celsius on Monday, around 20 degrees in the mountains, and the possibility of more showers and thunderstorms in the afternoon. Tuesday is expected to remain cool, with cloudy skies, intermittent rain, and temperatures ranging from 20 to 23 degrees Celsius, dropping to 16 to 20 degrees in the mountains.
