After the storm, road crews rush to critical locations: traffic remains closed in some areas

Road crews are working around the clock to clear damage caused by a recent storm, with immediate responses to rising water levels and obstructions on state roads. Teams are focused on critical areas, including the Bukiškio viaduct in the Vilnius region, where significant surface water accumulation has led to a continued closure of traffic. High-performance pumps are being used to remove the water, a process that may take time even after the rain stops to ensure safe driving conditions.

As soon as rising water levels and the first obstacles on state roads were detected, patrol inspections were intensified, and road crews were directed to critical locations. Work is being carried out continuously and continues to this day.

Elsewhere, crews are clearing fallen trees and branches from roadways across various state road sections. They are also conducting enhanced patrols to identify and assess new hazards created by the storm. The public is asked to remain vigilant, observe temporary road signs, and report any dangerous situations to "Kelių priežiūra" (Road Maintenance) to supplement ongoing monitoring efforts and enhance overall traffic safety.
