Agu makes injury return as Werder Bremen secure pre-season win

Nigerian international Felix Agu made a welcome return from a lengthy injury layoff, featuring in Werder Bremen's 2-0 victory over VfL Bochum in a pre-season friendly. The defender had been sidelined with muscular issues, missing the club's initial pre-season preparations.

Agu, 26, was part of the starting lineup for the match at Parkstadion in Zell am Ziller. He endured a physical outing on the left flank and received a yellow card shortly after halftime. Despite the intensity, he completed his comeback without further injury concerns before being substituted in the 48th minute as part of a planned workload management by head coach Daniel Thioune.

Erevbenagie opened the scoring for Werder Bremen in the 42nd minute, and Salim Musah sealed the win with a penalty in the 70th minute. The win capped a successful training camp for Werder Bremen in Austria, with Agu's return adding a significant boost as the team gears up for the 2026/27 Bundesliga campaign.
