Air Force officer, 33, dies in traffic accident in Chania

A tragic road accident has claimed the life of a 33-year-old Air Force officer in Chania, Crete. Antisubpilot Ioannis Missioudi was en route to his post at the 115 Combat Wing on Monday morning when his motorcycle collided with a waste disposal truck belonging to the Platanias Municipality.

The accident happened shortly before 7 a.m. in the Pithari area of Akrotiri. While the exact circumstances are still under investigation, the collision resulted in fatal injuries for the officer. Emergency services transported him to Chania General Hospital, where doctors pronounced him dead.

The municipality has postponed a planned music and dance event in respect for the fallen officer. The Hellenic Air Force General Staff also issued a statement confirming the officer's identity and the circumstances of the accident.
