Air Sports: Women collide during wingsuit jump and crash

A terrifying incident unfolded in the skies over Hohenems, Austria, where a routine wingsuit jump turned into a near-fatal accident for two female participants. The collision, which occurred at an altitude of approximately 4,000 meters, has left one woman in critical condition and raised serious questions about air safety protocols in extreme sports.

The details emerging from the Austrian police paint a harrowing picture. The 32-year-old Swiss jumper reportedly lost consciousness after the mid-air collision, which was initiated when the 48-year-old German jumper approached from behind at high speed. Fortunately, the Swiss woman's automatic parachute deployment system activated, but her descent was perilous. She grazed a high-voltage power line before crashing into the Alten Rhein river, where she was rescued by swimmers and subsequently transported to a hospital with life-threatening injuries.
