AirBorneo launches Kuching-Kuala Lumpur flights, eyes Singapore expansion

AirBorneo has made history by launching its inaugural flight connecting Kuching and Kuala Lumpur. The airline's chairman, Datuk Mohamad Abu Bakar Marzuki, stated that this milestone is significant not only for AirBorneo but also for Sarawak. He emphasized the airline's commitment to enhancing connectivity, fostering business growth, and supporting the state's long-term economic goals.

"The aviation sector is crucial for Sarawak's future. It is an economic lifeline connecting communities, supporting businesses, and creating opportunities for our people," Marzuki said. The inaugural flight, MY5005, departed from Kuching International Airport at 1 p.m., carrying Sarawak's Premier, Tan Sri Abang Johari Tun Openg, along with cabinet ministers and other dignitaries. Upon arrival at Kuala Lumpur International Airport Terminal 1, they were welcomed by Deputy Prime Minister Datuk Seri Fadillah Yusof.

AirBorneo CEO Megat Ardian Mohd. Aminuddin described the launch as the company's initial step into its next growth phase. "Our priority is to provide safe, reliable, and high-quality services while continuously improving the passenger travel experience," he stated. "We deeply appreciate the support and confidence from our customers, partners, and stakeholders in building AirBorneo's future together."

Starting tomorrow, AirBorneo will offer two daily flights between Kuching and Kuala Lumpur. Economy class tickets are priced at RM375, and Business Class starts at RM736 for a one-way journey. This route serves as the starting point for AirBorne's domestic network expansion, with plans to eventually extend its reach to its first international destination, Singapore.
