AIREI launches larger AI-powered smart palm oil mill

AIREI has launched a second AI-powered smart palm oil mill in Perak, increasing its processing capacity to 60 tonnes an hour from 45 tonnes at its first mill.

The facility at Perak Motor Co.'s PMC Oil Mill in Teluk Intan operates with AIREI's proprietary AI system. A new partnership with the Malaysia Digital Economy Corporation is supporting the rollout, bringing the technology into a wider discussion about AI's role in Malaysia's palm oil industry.

MDEC chief executive Anuar Fariz Fadzil said the palm oil sector, which he described as a strategic national commodity, could gain substantially from broader use of digital technology and AI. The partnership aligns with Malaysia Digital 2030, MDEC said, and aims to help more local innovations move into major industries. It also links the technology to the government's ambition of making Malaysia an AI nation by 2030 and creating higher-value jobs.

Steven Yow Thin Chin, managing director of Perak Motor's palm oil mill division, said AIREI had expanded the technology less than two years after introducing what the company described as the world's first AI-based smart palm oil mill. He said the move showed AI shifting from proof of concept toward standard mill operations.

The company also reported lower oil losses, improved extraction, better workforce use, more consistent operations and stronger management visibility.
