AKP official, son, and nephew killed in armed attack at cemetery

Mehmet Direk, a member of the Justice and Development Party (AKP) Central District Executive Board, was killed in an armed attack at the Asri Cemetery in Batman's Güneykent neighborhood. The assailants, whose identities are still unknown, also killed Direk's son, Ercan Direk, and his nephew, Bekir Direk.

Following the attack, police forces secured the scene, controlling entry and exit points. A large-scale operation has been initiated by the Batman Police Department to capture the suspects who fled the scene. Authorities are reviewing security camera footage from the surrounding area and conducting technical and field studies to determine the escape route of the attackers.

The motive for the attack has not yet been disclosed, and investigations are continuing. The incident highlights a violent crime that has tragically claimed the lives of three individuals connected to the local AKP leadership.
