Alex Michelsen eliminates Francisco Cerúndolo, fourth Argentine casualty of the day in Canada

Argentinian tennis player Francisco Cerúndolo has been eliminated from the Canada Masters 1000 tournament, becoming the fourth player from his country to exit the competition on Wednesday. World No. 42 Alex Michelsen defeated Cerúndolo, ranked No. 23, with a score of 6-3, 6-4 in a match lasting 1 hour and 28 minutes. Michelsen will advance to face the winner of the match between Spain's Daniel Mérida and France's Ugo Humbert. Cerúndolo was the last of six Argentinian players competing in the second round in Montreal. Only Mariano Navone and Thiago Agustín Tirante advanced to the third round, while Cerúndolo's brother, Juan Manuel, along with Sebastián Báez and Tomás Martín Etcheverry, were also eliminated. The day proved challenging for Latin American players, with Chile's Alejandro Tabilo, Peru's Ignacio Buse, and Colombia's Nicolás Mejía also exiting the tournament. In contrast, Brazil's João Fonseca defeated Stefanos Tsitsipas and will play Casper Ruud in the next round.
