Alexandria Opera String Orchestra revives iconic film and television music

The Alexandria Opera String Orchestra will bring some of Egypt’s best-known film and television melodies back to the stage in a concert at the Sayed Darwish Theatre on September 27, 2026.

Organized by the Egyptian Opera House, the performance will begin at 8 p.m. and will be led by conductor Ahmed Atef under the supervision of Nevine El-Mahmoudy, the orchestra’s artistic director.

The program will revisit music from films including “The Best of Times,” “Karakon Fi El-Sharea,” “The Suspect,” “Love in Karnak,” “His Majesty,” “Take Care of Your Mind,” “Zizi’s Family,” “A Paper Hero,” “The Prayer of the Nightingale,” “Cultural Film,” “Memoirs of a Teenager,” “Shafika and Metwally,” “At Cairo Station,” “The Newspaper Seller” and “Shams El-Zanaty.”

The orchestra will also perform famous works from international cinema. The Egyptian Opera House said the concert reflects its effort to offer varied musical styles and reintroduce enduring works through orchestral arrangements, allowing audiences to hear melodies associated with the history of Egyptian and global film and television.
