Aluminij and Maribor start 1. SNL season with 0-0 draw

Aluminij and Maribor kicked off the new 1. SNL season with a goalless draw in Kidriče. The match marked the return of Zlatko Zahović as director and Darko Milanič as coach for Maribor, but their team failed to deliver a victory for the traveling fans.

Despite showing improved effort compared to the previous season, Maribor struggled offensively throughout the game. They dominated possession, particularly in the first half, and often reached Aluminij's penalty area but lacked the finishing touch. A potential penalty for Maribor in the 16th minute was overturned after a VAR review, and Aluminij's Rok Schaubach made a crucial goal-line clearance in the 24th minute to deny Maribor the lead.

Aluminij managed to contain Maribor's attacks for periods, but also created their own chances in the second half. A defensive error by Aluminij in the 57th minute presented a clear opportunity for Maribor's Isaac Tshipamba, but the goalkeeper Florijan Raduha made the save. Later, Aluminij's Bambi Sussu had a headed effort saved by Maribor's Ažbe Jug.

In the closing minutes, Tshipamba had another chance to secure a win for Maribor but his pass was inaccurate. Maribor will host Brinje Grosuplje in their next match, while Aluminij's game against Celje has been postponed due to European commitments.
