AMAL and Malaysian Veterans Club Carry Out Fifth Humanitarian Mission in Aceh Tamiang

Recovery in Aceh Tamiang is continuing through a cross-border humanitarian partnership that has gone beyond the emergency response. Yayasan Amanah Kemanusiaan Global, known as AMAL, and Kelab Perwira Malaysia have now carried out five stages of assistance for communities affected by floods and landslides in the Indonesian regency.

The latest effort, the fifth Wira Nusantara Humanitarian Mission, ran from August 13 to 16, 2026. Seventeen people took part, including Malaysian club staff and volunteers, AMAL administrators and local AMAL coordinators. Their work covered food needs, support for children, access to clean water and monitoring of community infrastructure.

The disasters struck in late November 2025 after extreme rainfall caused rivers to overflow. Flooding damaged infrastructure, including roads and bridges, forced some residents to evacuate and disrupted economic and educational activities.

The partnership began its first stage in December 2025 with emergency deliveries of basic necessities. Assistance continued in February 2026, followed by a hot-meal program and school supplies for affected children in March. In May, the groups inaugurated the Al-Ikhlas prayer room in Tanjung Sementoh, monitored ongoing projects and assessed a site for another place of worship.

On the first day of the latest mission, the team operated a hot-meal kitchen in Sidodadi village, in Kejuruan Muda district. About 150 residents received warm food, and Malaysian volunteers also spent time with local residents.
