American Tourist Suffers Severe Genital Injury During Honduras Zipline Excursion

A recreational zip-line excursion in Honduras turned into a medical emergency for a 28-year-old American tourist, resulting in a severe genital injury. Kirsten Lindsey was participating in an organized tour on day three of a Carnival Cruise Line voyage when the zip-line's return rope reportedly snagged between her legs, causing a catastrophic injury.

Initially believing the injury to be minor after falling into the water, Lindsey's condition rapidly deteriorated upon returning to the ship. Her partner, Blake Ford, described the excruciating pain and rapid swelling that required her to use a wheelchair. Shipboard medical personnel worked for 26 hours to stabilize her, managing intense pain and respiratory issues caused by strong medication.

The swelling increased rapidly and the pain became so intense that Lindsey needed a wheelchair to move.

The couple disembarked in Mexico and, despite adverse weather, were transported to an airport for a private medical flight to Fort Lauderdale, Florida. Doctors there performed emergency surgery to remove a baseball-sized hematoma. Following her release, Lindsey underwent further hospitalization back in her home state of Louisiana. The incident has left the couple facing substantial financial burdens, with the air evacuation alone costing approximately $50,000, in addition to shipboard medical fees and other related expenses.
