An Byeong-hun achieves best-ever South Korean finish at LIV Golf New York

An Byeong-hun achieved a historic joint fifth-place finish at the LIV Golf New York tournament, setting a new benchmark for South Korean players in the league. The golfer, who captains the newly formed Korean Golf Club in LIV Golf, concluded the tournament at Trump National Golf Club Bedminster with a final round of 2-under-par 69, bringing his total to 7-under-par 277.

This latest performance surpasses An's previous best of joint ninth at the season-opening event in Saudi Arabia earlier this year, making him the first South Korean to secure a top-10 finish in a LIV Golf tournament. He has now bettered his own record with this joint fifth-place result.

Following closely, Song Young-han also recorded his first top-10 finish, tying for ninth place with a final score of 4-under-par 280. He becomes the second South Korean player, after An Byeong-hun, to achieve a top-10 standing in a LIV Golf event.

In the team competition, the Korean Golf Club, with contributions from An Byeong-hun and Song Young-han, secured a joint fifth-place finish among the 13 teams, with a combined score of 10-over-par. Other South Korean players included Moon Do-yeop, who finished tied for 45th, and Kim Min-kyu, who placed 47th.

The individual title was claimed by Chile's Joaquin Niemann, who secured his second win of the season and ninth career LIV Golf victory with a dominant performance, finishing at 16-under-par 268. He earned $4 million for his win. Meanwhile, Spain's Jon Rahm secured his third consecutive LIV Golf individual championship title by clinching the season's points lead, despite finishing tied for 41st in this event.
