Andros: Woman injured when ship's mooring rope breaks her car window

A woman sustained injuries in the port of Gavrio on the Greek island of Andros when a ship's mooring rope shattered her car window. The incident occurred during the docking process of a passenger and car ferry.

The rope, a light line used to secure vessels, known locally as a "vilai," was launched from the ship towards the pier. It struck the window of the 44-year-old woman's car, which was parked nearby as she waited to board. The impact caused the glass to break, and fragments injured the woman's legs.

First aid was administered at the scene by the crew of a private ambulance and members of the ship's crew. Despite the injuries, the woman boarded the ferry as planned, reportedly stating she was feeling well.

Authorities from the First Port Department of Gavrio are conducting a preliminary investigation to determine the exact circumstances of the accident. The incident highlights the potential hazards involved in port operations, even during routine docking procedures.
