Anglican church suspends Anambra pastor over fake miracles, prophecies

The Church of Nigeria (Anglican Communion) has taken decisive action against Reverend Ifunanya Maduka, suspending him from his position as Vicar of St. Paul’s Parish in Nteje, Anambra State. The suspension, effective for six months without pay, stems from serious allegations of fake miracles and orchestrated prophecies. Bishop Owen Nwokolo, leading the Diocese on the Niger, stated that credible reports indicated Maduka involved paid individuals to stage 'prophetic manifestations,' presenting them as divine interventions. Significantly, the priest reportedly admitted to these practices when confronted with the evidence. This situation is particularly concerning given Maduka's prior commendations for his conduct and doctrine. The church leadership emphasized that such actions, including deception and potential financial impropriety, are incompatible with the sacred responsibilities of a clergyman and bring dishonor to the Anglican Communion.
