Anton Sukartono elected Chairman of Democratic Party's West Java branch

Anton Sukartono, a member of the Indonesian House of Representatives, has been officially elected as the Chairman of the Democratic Party's West Java Regional Executive Board (DPD). The decision was made unanimously through acclamation at the Regional Leadership Meeting (Musda) held in Bandung.

Until the last moment, we received nominations and only one name was verified and supported by all the owners of the votes. The owners of the votes are the heads of the DPCs of 27 regencies/cities and one wing organization.

This marks Sukartono's continuation in party leadership, having served a previous term. Herman Khaeron, the Secretary General of the Democratic Party's Central Executive Board (DPP), explained that the Musda was convened earlier than the standard five-year term to address organizational needs. He noted that the election process was democratic, requiring a minimum of 20% support, but ultimately, only Sukartono's name was put forward and verified, receiving backing from all voting members, including the heads of 27 district/city branches and a youth wing organization.

It needs to be noted that the Democrats once won the Democratic Party in West Java with 28 seats, both in the DPR RI and the Provincial DPRD, and almost in all regencies/cities got leadership (Head of Region).

Khaeron recalled the Democratic Party's past electoral triumphs in West Java, where they secured 28 seats in both the national and provincial legislatures and achieved leadership positions in most districts. He urged West Java cadres to remain connected with the public, drawing inspiration from figures like Governor K.H. Don Mulyadi (KDM), to ensure the party remains beloved by the people. The Musda serves as the highest forum for strategic decision-making within the party.

The people of West Java chose with their hearts. Therefore, I remind the cadres in West Java that they must be truly close to the people. Like Mr. Governor, Mr. KDM, be close to the people. Emulate Mr. KDM so that the Democrats can also be loved in the future.
