Antonelli wins again at Spa, extends championship lead

Championship leader Antonelli claimed his sixth win of the 2026 season at the Spa circuit, solidifying his dominant position. The Italian driver, now with 204 points, extended his lead over his rivals following a challenging race.

Lewis Hamilton of Ferrari climbed to second in the World Championship standings with 159 points after finishing fourth. He capitalized on George Russell's misfortune, as the Mercedes driver retired from the race and slipped to third with 157 points.

The podium was rounded out by Charles Leclerc of Ferrari, the winner of the previous race at Silverstone, and four-time champion Max Verstappen of Red Bull.

For the Spanish contingent, Carlos Sainz (Williams) and Fernando Alonso (Aston Martin) faced a difficult outing. Both drivers started from the rear of the grid, positions 22 and 19 respectively, due to penalties for component changes. They ultimately finished in 19th and 16th place, failing to secure any championship points.

Argentinian driver Franco Colapinto (Alpine) secured a tenth-place finish, earning a point, while Mexican driver Checo Pérez (Cadillac) was forced to retire from the race.
