Anykščiai Mayor: ESO Hides Everything, We Have No Data

K. Tubis, the Mayor of the Anykščiai district, has voiced strong criticism against the energy company ESO, accusing it of withholding information and failing to cooperate with the municipality following a severe storm. Social care homes in Troškūnai, housing dozens of elderly residents, have been without water or electricity for over three days, forcing the municipality to deliver aid, including assistance with bathing, feeding, and general care for the sick and bedridden.

The mayor questioned ESO's prioritization in restoring power, noting that critical facilities like hospitals should receive immediate attention, yet residents have endured prolonged outages. "ESO must restore it within three days, but they haven't," Tubis stated, highlighting that 17 villages in the district still lack water supply. The situation is further complicated by communication disruptions, as mobile service and internet are down in large parts of the district, hindering efforts to identify and address issues with water pumping stations.

Tubis lamented ESO's lack of collaboration, stating, "ESO is not cooperating with the municipality at all." He explained that the municipality receives written correspondence but has no direct contact with ESO's management, leaving them unaware of where repair crews are working or how they can assist. The mayor expressed frustration, recounting ESO's suggestion to "contact the military" when asked for coordination. He added that the municipality is prepared to help clear storm damage but cannot do so effectively without ESO's cooperation and clear data on the extent of the problems.
