APC Sweeps Ebonyi Local Government Polls, Winning All Chairmanship and Councillorship Seats

The All Progressives Congress (APC) has achieved a dominant victory in the Ebonyi State local government elections, sweeping all 13 chairmanship positions and all 171 councillorship seats contested. The results were officially announced by Patrick Enyi, the Chairman of the Ebonyi State Independent Electoral Commission (EBSIEC), at the commission's office in Abakaliki.

The APC Chairman in Ebonyi State, Chief Stanley Okoro Emegha, described the party’s sweeping victory as an indication of its dominance in the state.

Notable among the victors is Osborn Umahi, the son of the Minister of Works, Senator David Umahi. He has been declared the chairman-elect for Ohaozara Local Government Area. Other declared winners for chairmanship include Mrs. Peace Agwu (Ishielu), Hon. Paul Ituma (Ohaukwu), Friday Nwuhuo (Ezza North), Chinedu Mkpuma (Ezza South), Hon. Chidi Nwode (Ikwo), Engr. Timothy Nwachi (Afikpo), Ikechukwu Ogbofia (Onicha), Michael Kalu Anyim (Ivo), Chief Simeon Onuoha (Edda), Mrs. Helen Aduga (Izzi), Hon. Chidiebere Alo (Abakaliki), and Hon. Chibueze Odigwe (Ebonyi Local Government Area).

Enyi characterized the election process as peaceful, free, and fair, acknowledging the participation of other political parties. He commended the voters for exercising their constitutional rights and expressed gratitude to the security agencies for their support throughout the electoral exercise. Following his declaration, Osborn Umahi praised EBSIEC for the transparent and peaceful conduct, pledging to focus on rural development, youth empowerment, and agricultural transformation during his term.

Enyi described the election as peaceful, free and fair, noting that other political parties participated in the exercise.

The APC Chairman in Ebonyi State, Chief Stanley Okoro Emegha, interpreted the party's overwhelming victory as a clear sign of its political dominance within the state. He further stated that the outcome reflects the growing acceptance of the APC across Ebonyi, expressing confidence in the party's prospects for continued success in the upcoming 2027 general elections.
