APGA Backs Tinubu's Re-election, Not APC Aspirants, Says Chieftain

The All Progressives Grand Alliance (APGA) Media Warriors Forum has issued a crucial clarification regarding the party's political stance ahead of the 2027 general elections. National Coordinator Chinedu Obigwe emphasized that while APGA unequivocally supports President Bola Tinubu's bid for re-election, this endorsement is strictly for the President and does not translate into backing for any All Progressives Congress (APC) aspirants vying for positions in the Senate, House of Representatives, or State Assembly within Anambra State.

With the declaration of the National Leader of APGA, Governor Chukwuma Soludo, we are unapologetically supporting President Bola Tinubu’s re-election, but Senate, House of Representatives, and House of Assembly elections in Anambra are a must-win for APGA.

Obigwe's statement addresses a growing trend where some APC aspirants have been circulating campaign posters featuring President Tinubu alongside Anambra State Governor Chukwuma Soludo, who is also the national leader of APGA. These posters often carry the slogan "Progressives are working together," creating an impression of a unified front between APGA and APC. Obigwe cautioned the public against being misled by these "drowning campaign gimmicks" from opposition politicians.

The general public should not be deceived by the drowning campaign gimmicks of Anambra opposition politicians.

He further elaborated that Governor Soludo's "Progressives are working together" mantra refers specifically to the Anambra State government's collaborative working relationship with President Tinubu's administration. This partnership aims to foster development and progress within the state, and APGA's support for the President stems from this constructive engagement. However, Obigwe stressed that this does not signify any endorsement of APC candidates in the upcoming elections.

Some APC House of Representatives aspirants are circulating campaign posters that contain the photos of Governor Soludo, President Tinubu, and themselves on social media, with a claim that ‘progressives are working together.’

APGA's commitment remains firm: to field its own candidates for all legislative seats in Anambra and to secure victory in these contests. Obigwe reiterated that these state-level elections are a "must-win" for APGA, underscoring the party's determination to maintain its political presence and influence within the state. The forum's objective is to ensure voters understand the distinction between supporting the President's national agenda and making independent choices for local representation.
