Argyroupoli man says four people tried to abduct him before shooting him in the shoulder

A 46-year-old man has told Greek authorities that four people tried to force him into a car in Argyroupoli and that one of them shot him in the shoulder when he resisted.

The incident occurred shortly after 1:30 a.m. on Gravia Street, according to the account. The man, who comes from a former Soviet country, said four unknown individuals approached him and attempted to make him enter a private vehicle against his will.

He said one of the group fired as the alleged attackers were leaving, causing a through-and-through shoulder wound. He drove himself to hospital and remains out of danger.

The local security department has taken charge of the preliminary investigation. Authorities are examining the exact circumstances and whether the incident unfolded as the man described.
