Armed Robbery, Taxi Hijacking, and Gun Threats: Suspect Arrested in Zagreb

Zagreb is reeling from a series of brazen crimes allegedly committed by a 31-year-old man, who now faces serious charges including armed robbery, making death threats, and hijacking a vehicle. The suspect's alleged actions paint a picture of escalating violence and disregard for public safety, culminating in a terrifying incident where he reportedly fired a pistol through a taxi window while threatening the driver.

The alleged crime spree began on May 5th when the suspect entered a cafe, brandished a firearm, and demanded 100 euros from a terrified waitress. After obtaining the money, he entered a taxi, brandished the weapon again, and ordered the driver to proceed. During the ride, he allegedly fired shots, narrowly missing passing trucks, and issued further threats to the taxi driver, stating, 'You and your whole family will suffer!'

Adding to the charges, the suspect is also accused of threatening a family member with a weapon and threatening to kill them in mid-April. Following his arrest and questioning, a Zagreb County Court judge ordered the 31-year-old into one month of pre-trial detention, citing the significant risk that he might repeat his offenses.
