Arsenal Beat Como on Penalties to End Pre-Season

Arsenal ended their 2026/27 pre-season schedule with a penalty shootout victory over Como 1907 at the Emirates Stadium. The match concluded in a 1-1 draw after 90 minutes, with Arsenal ultimately prevailing 4-3 from the spot.

Arsenal started the match assertively, with Gabriel Jesus narrowly missing an early lead when his shot struck the goalpost in the sixth minute. Despite facing occasional threats from Como, Mikel Arteta's side opened the scoring in the 33rd minute. Myles Lewis-Skelly capitalized on an opportunity to put Arsenal ahead 1-0.

However, Como managed to level the score just before halftime. Martin Baturina found the net against Kepa Arrizabalaga, making it 1-1 at the break. The second half saw a tightly contested match with both teams creating chances, including several from set-pieces for Arsenal, but neither side could find a decisive goal, leading to the penalty shootout.

In the shootout, Arsenal converted four of their five penalties, with only Noni Madueke missing. Como faltered twice, with Alvaro Morata and Ivan Smolcic failing to score, securing the win for Arsenal. This victory marks the end of Arsenal's pre-season preparations before they face Manchester City in the Community Shield.
