Art and Astronomy Meet in Special Joan Miró Event

Art and astronomy converge this Thursday at the Spain Cultural Center Juan de Salazar (CCEJS) in Asunción with a special talk titled "Miró's Constellations." The event, running from 7:00 PM to 9:00 PM, is organized in partnership with Planetario Canopus and offers free admission.

The session delves into the life and work of Spanish artist Joan Miró, particularly during the period he created his renowned "Constellations" series. It aims to highlight the historical context of these pieces and the significant presence of the sky and astronomical elements within Miró's artistic vision.

Utilizing astronomical simulation tools, the event will recreate the night skies visible from locations where Miró developed these works. This will allow attendees to identify the stars, constellations, and celestial phenomena that may have inspired his creative process. The talk will also foster a dialogue between Miró's artistic interpretations and humanity's historical understanding of the cosmos.

Concluding the evening, a guided astronomical observation will offer participants a chance to view the Moon, stars, and other visible night sky objects, directly connecting the artistic experience with celestial contemplation. This activity is part of the broader exhibition "Joan Miró. Drawings on the Wall. Photographs by Rif Spahni," which runs until August 1st.
