Natalia Oreiro, Agresti, Kauderer to Receive Lifetime Achievement Awards at Mar del Plata Film Festival

The upcoming 41st Mar del Plata International Film Festival, set to take place in November, will celebrate distinguished careers in film by honoring actress Natalia Oreiro, director Alejandro Agresti, and composer Emilio Kauderer with the Astor Piazzolla Lifetime Achievement Award. This festival is the sole Class A film event in Latin America.

Natalia Oreiro, a Uruguayan-born actress who has built a significant career in Argentina, will be recognized for her extensive work in acting, music, and production, achieving an international reach few Argentine artists attain. Her acting credits span popular telenovelas seen as far as Russia and Israel, as well as notable films such as 'Cleopatra,' 'Miss Tacuarembó,' and 'Gilda, no me arrepiento de este amor.'

Filmmaker Alejandro Agresti, a native of Buenos Aires, will also receive the award. Agresti gained international recognition for directing 'Lake House,' starring Keanu Reeves and Sandra Bullock. He has a history with the Mar del Plata festival, having won Best Latin American Film for 'Buenos Aires Viceversa' in 1996 and the Special Jury Prize for 'Valentin' in 2003. His independent cinema work has been celebrated at festivals like Cannes and San Sebastián.

Composer Emilio Kauderer, based in Los Angeles, is renowned for his musical scores for Argentine director Juan José Campanella's films, including the Oscar-winning 'The Secret in Their Eyes' and 'Metegol.' He also collaborated with the late Adolfo Aristarain on films like 'Últimos días de la víctima.' Kauderer's work has been performed by the Los Angeles Philharmonic Orchestra. The festival's opening will feature Kauderer conducting the National Orchestra of Argentina in a concert of memorable film scores. Additionally, the festival will commemorate Héctor Babenco on the 80th anniversary of his birth and the tenth of his passing.
