Ashour: Al-Salmiya targeting every domestic title

Al-Salmiya is setting its sights on winning every domestic honor available in the new football season, according to head coach Ali Ashour. Speaking ahead of training, Ashour emphasized the club's ambition to return to winning ways through consistent performances across all competitions.

Pre-season preparations have commenced with a robust turnout of players, and the club is expecting the remaining foreign professionals to join the squad shortly. Al-Salmiya has already bolstered its roster with Uzbek Shahzod Azmiddinov and Bahraini Abdullah Yousif. Brazilian Alex Lima is expected to remain with the team, while a decision on Syrian defender Mahmoud Al-Aswad's future is pending. The club has confirmed the departures of Syrian Amro Midani and Bahraini Sayed Diaa.

To enhance fitness levels after the break, some players are undergoing double training sessions. Al-Salmiya is scheduled to travel to Izmit, Turkey, for a pre-season training camp, where they will play four friendly matches. This intensive preparation aims to fine-tune the squad before the Kuwait Premier League season kicks off on August 25.

Other Kuwaiti clubs are also ramping up their preparations. Kuwait Club has departed for London for its overseas training camp, focusing on warm-up matches for its domestic title defense and its AFC Champions League Two campaign. Al-Nasr will hold its pre-season camp in Cairo from August 1 to August 20, with several friendly matches planned against international opponents.
