Aswan governor outlines plans to tackle challenges and improve citizen quality of life

Aswan Governor Eng. Amr Lashin has outlined a comprehensive strategy to address pressing challenges and elevate the quality of life for citizens in the governorate. Central to his agenda is the improvement of drinking water and sanitation services, which Lashin described as receiving top priority. He noted that ongoing discussions with Prime Minister Dr. Mostafa Madbouly and the Ministers of Housing and Planning have secured substantial financial resources and technical support for these critical infrastructure projects.

Beyond essential services, the governorate is actively pursuing economic diversification and growth. Lashin is collaborating with the Minister of Industry to develop supply chain studies aimed at adding value to Aswan's products and fostering complementary industries. The goal is to attract serious investors, leverage the region's geographical and economic advantages, and transform Aswan into an international logistics hub, thereby stimulating the local economy and creating employment opportunities for the youth.

Tourism is another key focus area. Governor Lashin is engaged in discussions with the Minister of Tourism and investors to redefine Aswan's identity, emphasizing its rich history, cultural heritage, and immense natural beauty. The aim is to bolster Aswan's position as a premier tourist destination that reflects its historical significance and global standing.

We are working with the Minister of Industry to develop studies for supply chains, feeding, and production to achieve added value for Aswan's products and enhance the establishment of complementary industries and attract more serious investors.

In terms of public services and infrastructure, Lashin stressed the importance of direct communication with citizens. Local unit heads and directors of service directorates are mandated to hold public meetings twice weekly to address citizen concerns and needs. Furthermore, the governorate is intensifying field tours and campaigns to remove encroachments in markets and public spaces, alongside efforts to improve cleanliness and maintain green areas. Specific infrastructure projects, such as pedestrian bridges, are being expedited, with plans to install solar-powered lighting in certain streets to combat theft and ensure sustainable illumination.
