Attempted Burglary at Spanish Star Lamine Yamal's Home After World Cup Semifinal

An attempted burglary took place at the Barcelona home of Lamine Yamal, a rising star of the Spanish national football team, in the early hours of the morning. The incident occurred just hours after Spain secured a 2-0 victory over France in the World Cup semifinal, a match in which Yamal played a key role.

According to Catalan media reports, two individuals wearing hoodies attempted to break into the residence located in Esplugues de Llobregat, a suburb of Barcelona. A spokesperson for the Catalan police confirmed an attempted break-in at a residential property but withheld the owner's identity due to privacy concerns. However, the newspaper La Vanguardia identified the house as belonging to the young Barcelona star.

Private security personnel at the property reportedly alerted by the intruders, who then fled the scene. The attempted burglary happened at dawn, shortly after Spain's win, which was partly secured by a penalty converted by Mikel Oyarzabal following a foul on Yamal. La Vanguardia also noted that the property was previously owned by former footballer Gerard Piqué and Colombian singer Shakira when they were a couple living in Barcelona.

Catalan police are also investigating a separate case of "robbery with force" at another house in the vicinity of Yamal's residence in Esplugues de Llobregat. Home burglaries targeting footballers, particularly in Madrid, have become increasingly common in recent years, with high-profile players like Karim Benzema, Rodrygo, and Dani Carvajal having been victims of such crimes.
