An attempted scooter theft in Zagreb's Laurenčićeva Street was thwarted overnight when a man walking his dog interrupted the suspects. Four individuals were reportedly trying to cut the scooter's chain when the passerby appeared, causing them to flee.

Dear neighbors, last night there was an attempted theft of a scooter in front of the building at Laurenčićeva 8. They tried to cut the chain with which the scooter was tied. A man with a dog passed by and the four thieves fled.

The incident has unsettled local residents, with many sharing similar experiences of scooter and motorcycle thefts in the Borovje area. One resident posted on social media about the attempted theft, noting that the suspects fled upon encountering the dog walker. The scooter belonged to a neighbor.

Further comments on social media suggest that this is not an isolated incident. Some residents claim that the same group is responsible for ongoing thefts and that the police are aware of their identities and activities, including vehicle descriptions and even a van used. Despite this alleged knowledge, residents express frustration that no effective action has been taken.

One individual reported their own scooter had been stolen and later recovered, but damaged. Another recounted a similar incident on the same night within a few kilometers, resulting in 400 to 500 euros in damages to their scooter. The repeated nature of these thefts and the perceived inaction by authorities have fueled concern among the community.
