Australian national team candidate Kalinić joins Kauno Žalgiris

Lithuanian football club "Kauno Žalgiris" has bolstered its squad with the signing of Anthony Kalinić, a midfielder who is also a candidate for the Australian national team. The 28-year-old possesses both Australian and Croatian citizenship.

Kalinić brings significant experience, having been a long-serving player for Hajduk Split in Croatia. He spent a decade with the renowned Croatian club, with some interruptions, and also represented several Australian clubs earlier in his career. He was also loaned to Rudeš and Gorica during his time in Croatia.

His international credentials include playing for Australian youth teams. Last year, he earned a call-up to the senior Australian men's national football team. In Croatia's top football league, Kalinić has played nearly 200 matches, contributing 30 goals or assists. His career highlights include winning the Australian and Croatian football cups. Notably, he was coached by Lithuanian Valdas Dambrauskas at Gorica and Hajduk.
