Authorities Arrest Accomplice in Femicide of Content Creator in Mexico

Mexican authorities have apprehended Iván Martín 'N', who is alleged to be a co-perpetrator in the femicide of online content creator Valeria Márquez. The influencer was killed in May 2025 while broadcasting live from her beauty salon in Zapopan, Jalisco.

The Jalisco State Prosecutor's Office announced that an arrest warrant was issued for the suspect, along with a search warrant for a property in Zapopan. Iván Martín 'N' was captured on August 1st by a specialized unit focused on crimes against women, in coordination with the Mexican Army and National Guard. Investigators believe he played a role before, during, and after the attack that took Márquez's life.

During the search of the property, authorities discovered two firearms, a .40 caliber and a 9-millimeter, along with cell phones and identification documents. These items have been added to the ongoing investigation. The investigation suggests two vehicles, a motorcycle and a white car, were used in the attack and to facilitate the escape of those involved, a route reconstructed through surveillance footage.

This arrest follows the recent detention of Ramón Ángel Álvarez Ayala, known as 'R1', identified as a leader within a faction of the Cartel Jalisco Nueva Generación (CJNG). Security Secretary Omar García Harfuch stated that 'R1's son had a prior relationship with Márquez, had threatened her, and is believed to have ordered the femicide. He remains at large and is sought as the primary perpetrator. The investigation into 'R1's' activities has also aided in solving the murder of former Uruapan mayor Carlos Manzo.

The Jalisco Prosecutor's Office stated that it will continue its efforts to fully clarify the femicide and apprehend any other individuals believed to be involved in the crime.
