Awer Mabil Returns to Australia with Melbourne City Transfer

Australian international Awer Mabil is returning to his home country after being transferred from Spanish club CD Castellón to Melbourne City. The winger, who featured in the recent World Cup held in the United States, Mexico, and Canada, will now play for the A-League club.

Mabil's move marks a return to Australia, where he began his football career with Adelaide United before moving to Europe. He spent a season and a half with CD Castellón, a team competing in Spain's second division, LaLiga Hypermotion. During his tenure, Mabil provided six assists in the first half of the 2024-2025 championship season after joining in the winter transfer market. In the most recent campaign, he recorded another six assists and scored three goals.
